Student Mental Health Link and Athlete Mental Health Link Apps - Empowering Mental Wellness

Introduction

Our American customer: Cutler Wellness Programs aimed at providing a platform for mental wellness support for athletes and students alike. With a dedication to breaking mental health stigma and increasing literacy, CWP wanted to target two distinctive groups: Athlete and Student. This case study showcases our cooperation that resulted in the development of Student Mental Health Link and Athlete Mental Health Link apps.

Challenge

CWP recognizes that mental wellness is a fundamental aspect of academic and professional success which is nevertheless often neglected due to stigma, lack of knowledge of the available resources or simply due to lack of dedicated platform.

Solution

To address these issues CWP asked us to develop apps that provide strategies, resources, and connections with peers and other athletes across the nation, putting mental health knowledge and support at their fingertips.

Technologies

With both the Student MH LINK and Athlete MH LINK apps our main focus was the functionality and user-friendly interface ensuring that users can easily access mental health resources and support anytime, anywhere. The development team utilizes advanced frameworks and platforms to create seamless experiences for students, athletes, coaches, parents, and sport organizations. We used mainly the below tools and technologies:

  • Xcode - IDE integrated development environment
  • Google Firebase Platform - a web and mobile application development platform powered by Google.
  • Bitucket – a Git-based source code repository hosting service owned by Atlassian
  • Swift - programming language
  • CocoaPods - package manager
  • Cocoa Touch is a user interface framework provided by Apple for building software applications for products like iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
  • UIKit - apple library that allows to construct and manage a graphical, event-driven user interface for your iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS app.
  • MVVM - architectural design pattern used in project.

Implementation

The development and implementation of the Student MH LINK and Athlete MH LINK apps involved close collaboration with our customer who already had a broad knowledge and experience in this field but needed our input in translating this info a functional and simple environment. Thorough testing and refinement processes were conducted to optimize the apps for usability, reliability, and performance across diverse environments.

Results

Since the launch of the Student MH LINK and Athlete MH LINK apps, CWP has witnessed significant improvements in mental wellness support for students and athletes. The apps have empowered individuals with access to confidential, coordinated, and integrated mental health programs, breaking stigma, increasing literacy, and providing practical resources to improve lives.
